New Delhi: At a time when many companies are preparing to do away with the work from home culture and start working from office soon, here is one firm that has tried to allow its employees to work from home for the rest of their lives. A new policy has been introduced. Yes, you heard it right. Accounting and consulting firm PwC announced this week that it will allow its 40,000 US customer service employees to work virtually and live anywhere to adopt permanent remote work. Apart from PwC, other leading accounting firms like Deloitte and KPMG are also giving employees more options to work remotely in the wake of the COVID pandemic. Also Read – Maharashtra School Reopening News: Varsha Gaikwad reviews preparations with officials before resuming classes from October 4
Speaking to Reuters, PwC Deputy People Leader Yolanda Seals-Caufield said the firm was the first in its industry to provide full-time virtual work for client service employees. As per the update, the firm’s support staff and employees in areas such as human resources and legal operations that do not directly face clients have the option of working almost full-time. Giving further details, Seals-Caufield said that PwC employees who choose to work virtually must come to the office for a maximum of three days a month for in-person appointments such as important team meetings, client visits and learning sessions.
Stating that location matters to the pay of PwC employees, Seals-Caufield said that employees who choose to work almost full-time from a lower-cost location will see a reduction in their pay.
It should be noted that Alphabet Inc.’s Google also sets the salaries of employees based on their location who work from home who earn permanently less.
However, PwC said that the firm in which team members prefer to be in office on a regular basis will not be allowed to work completely remotely.
It should be noted that PwC is globally headquartered in London and its US head office is located in New York. In June the firm said in a statement that all 20,000 of its employees in the UK would be allowed to choose whether to work from home in the future.
