“We made mistakes along the way. And I have paid for it. I was also shown a black badge, presented with a garland of shoes. But I have welcomed the criticism positively.”
Chandra questioned the malicious intent of Invesco and alleged that it was illegally trying to acquire the ZEEL Group.
“Invesco is not the owner, 2.5 lakh shareholders are the real owners of ZEEL, 90 crore Indian audience are the real owners,” Chandra said.
“You (Invesco) may be the 18% shareholder but you are not the owner. Don’t behave like one,” he said.
Chandra urged the people to support Zee in the fight against the hostile takeover.
“I know you (people) have got my back. I assure you that if you are with us, we will not allow any foreign company to take over. This company is not private property of anyone. It belongs to the people,” he said.
