New Delhi: Petrol and diesel prices across the country hit a record high today after Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) decided to hike fuel rates. Petrol price was hiked by 25 paise per liter and diesel became costlier by 30 paise per liter on Tuesday. Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged on Monday after a simultaneous hike in pump prices of both the fuels for four consecutive days. Petrol, diesel price today
- Petrol in Delhi costs Rs 102.64 per liter and diesel costs Rs 91.07 per liter. Petrol costs Rs 108.67 per liter in Mumbai and diesel costs Rs 98.80 per liter in Mumbai.
- Petrol in Chennai is Rs 100.23 per liter and diesel is Rs 95.69 per litre. Petrol in Kolkata costs Rs 103.36 per liter and diesel costs Rs 94.17 per liter.
- Notably, benchmark crude oil prices had hit a low of USD 79 a barrel yesterday, up from a three-year high of USD 80 a barrel early last week, according to an IANS report.
Petrol prices had remained stable since September 5, but oil companies on Tuesday last week hiked pump prices in view of the rise in product prices. An IANS report said diesel prices have now gone up with a regular hike in prices for the past four days before the halt on Monday. OMCs had earlier prioritized keeping their watch prices on the global oil situation before making any revision in rates. This is the reason why petrol prices were not revised before last three weeks.
