The incident happened when CSK all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was defending six runs in the last over for his team. He bowls a wide outside off-stump left-hander Shimron Hetmyer. The ball was so wide that it did not land on the pitch. Also Read – Playing Against MS Dhoni Was A “Fanboy” Moment For Young DC Batsman Ripple Patel

On-field umpire Anil Chaudhary signaled a no ball. But later he changed it to give a wide signal after consulting the third umpire. However, as per the rules, if the ball leaves the pitch in whole or in part before the striker reaches the line of wicket, the umpire shall call and signal a ‘no-ball’.

To this, Gavaskar told Star Sports, ‘It was clearly a no ball. We have taken some decisions from the TV umpires, who can make the difference between victory and defeat in these circumstances, and this should not happen.

“Such decisions should not change the game. It’s a good thing Delhi won because it could have changed the game.”

In the last few matches of IPL 2021, the umpires have faced criticism for poor umpiring.
