“I guess it looks to me like, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have taken some rest after getting the India cap. The batting legend blamed poor shot selection of the batsmen for the disappointing performance, saying that some of the Mumbai Indians players did not give themselves time to perfect the shots played during the IPL season.

“Sometimes it happens that you have to give yourself a little time, and you have to get your shot selection right. And I think he has missed this time, where his shot selection has not been perfect, and hence he has been dismissed cheaply,” said Gavaskar.

He felt that Hardik Pandya’s bowling performance had affected the team’s prospects.

Not only for Mumbai Indians but also for India, Hardik Pandya not bowling is a big blow as he was picked in the team as an all-rounder. And if you are in the team, batting at No.6 or No.7, and you are not able to bowl, it becomes difficult for the captain. He doesn’t have the flexibility and options that are very important for someone batting at No 6 or 7 like an all-rounder.
