The film will be produced by Sandeep Singh’s production house Legend Global Studios in association with Dream Girl (2019) director Raaj Shaandilyaa’s production house, ThinkInc Pictures, while Mahesh Manjrekar will head the project as director. This is the third film that Mahesh Manjrekar will direct for Legend Global Studios; The other two are independent Veer Savarkar – a period biopic on India’s freedom struggle and White too.

Talking about the film, Sandeep Singh said, “The story of Nathuram Godse is what I wanted to tell since making my first film. There are different versions of the stories about. Mahesh, Raj and I want to bring out the factual story and thus bring this cinematic creation of characters from forgotten history to the present generation. I with Mahesh Manjrekar Already collaborating on Swatantra Veer Savarkar and White – and I’m glad he’s on board for Godse as well.

Raaj Shaandilyaa said, “Over the years, there has been a renewed interest in knowing about Nathuram Godse. At the same time, we are living in a time where freedom of expression and different perspectives and views are encouraged. So, we feel this is the right time to bring a film on Nathuram Godse. I am also looking forward to working with Sandeep Singh and Mahesh Manjrekar. I am sure this is a project that I would be proud of.”

Mahesh Manjrekar shared, “The story of Nathuram Godse has always been close to my heart. It takes a lot of courage to support a film like this. I have always believed in telling difficult subjects and storytelling without compromising and this one fits the bill. People don’t know much about Godse except that he was the one who shot Gandhi. While telling his story, we neither want to patronize anyone nor speak against anyone. We will leave it to the audience to decide who is right or wrong.”

The film is co-produced by Vimal Lahoti, Jai Pandya and Abhay Verma. Presently the scripting work of the film is going on. Casting will take place later, while the film is expected to go on floors in the second half of 2022.
