Covid Rules Further Relaxed; Shops, Bars to Open Normally For THIS Period


Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Saturday decided to further relax the COVID-induced restrictions in view of declining cases and Durga Puja celebrations, allowing all shops, restaurants and bars to remain open as per normal operating hours, reports news agency ANI. “The late closure of the bar may be permitted as per the extant rules,” the order said. According to the official statement, the order will be effective from October 10 to October 20. Meanwhile, the state has recorded a total of 15,74,801 COVID-19 cases so far, including 7,625 active cases. However, the cumulative death toll currently stands at 18,882. Under the nationwide immunization drive, West Bengal has administered more than 6.19 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses.
