Omicron Version Latest Update: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday said that a total of 101 Omicron cases have been reported in India so far and these variants have been detected in 11 states. Giving information, Joint Secretary, Union Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal said that for the last 20 days, new daily cases of Kovid-19 have been registered below 10,000. “The Omicron variant was reported in 91 countries of the world. The WHO has stated that Omicron is spreading faster than the delta variant in South Africa where the delta circulation was low. It is likely that Omicron will outnumber the delta variant where the community Transmission Happens, WHO Said,” Agarwal Said. He said that for the last 20 days, daily new cases were registered below 10,000. He further added that the case positivity was 0.65% for the last 1 week. “At present, Kerala contributes to 40.31% of the total number of active cases in the country,” Agarwal said.
He also said that India is administering the COVID19 vaccine dose at the highest rate in the world and the daily rate of administered dose is 4.8 times the dose rate administered in USA and 12.5 times the rate of administered dose in UK.
