All About Keratosis Pilaris, an Incurable Skin Condition Yami Gautam is Suffering From


Actress Yami Gautam is known for her flawless skin and in fact she has been the poster girl of a fairness brand. The actor recently took to the photo-sharing platform Instagram to share some unedited pictures of himself flaunting his flaws. The decision certainly comes as a bold move, given that there is constant pressure on female actors to look beautiful and perfect. On Monday, on his Instagram handle, the actor shared several pictures from a photoshoot and talked about his “flaws” and “insecurities”. “Hello my Insta family, I recently shot for a few images and when they were about to go in for post-production (a common procedure) to hide my skin condition called keratosis- pilaris, I thought, ‘ Hey Yami, why don’t you accept this fact and accept it enough to be okay with it. What is keratosis-pilaris?

Also, Yami spoke about her skin condition and when she developed it. “For those who haven’t heard of it, it’s a skin condition in which you get tiny bumps on the skin. I promise they’re not as bad as your brain and your neighbor’s aunt tells it I developed this skin condition during my teenage years, and there is still no cure for it,” she continued.

Then, the actor talked about his daring leap that made him post these pictures without any “airbrushing”.
“I have dealt with this over many years and today finally, I decided to let go of all my fears and insecurities and found the courage to love and accept my ‘flaws’ with all my heart. I also shared my truth with you. Oh! I didn’t feel like airbrushing my folliculitis or ‘shaping up’ that ‘under-eye’ or ‘shaping up’ that waist! And yet, I feel beautiful,” she signed off.

Fans, friends and fellow members of the film fraternity shouted in support of Yami in the comments section.
“Always gorgeous,” wrote writer and debut director Tahira Kashyap.

“Shocking! As always,” commented actor Kajal Aggarwal.

Yami’s ‘Bhoot Police’ co-star Jacqueline Fernandez said, “Very beautiful.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Yami has several films in the pipeline which include ‘A Thursday’, ‘Lost’ and ‘Daasvi’.
