Manoj Bajpayee’s father RK Bajpayee, who has been very ill for the past few days, died at the age of 83 in a Delhi hospital on Sunday. Manoj Bajpayee’s spokesperson said that the actor, who was in Kerala to shoot his new project, immediately reached Delhi to perform the last rites of his father, news agency PTI reported. “Manoj’s father’s condition was very critical for the past few days. After hearing the news, Manoj reached Delhi from Kerala, where he was shooting for his next project,” the spokesperson said in a statement. The spokesperson also said that Manoj Bajpayee’s father was hospitalized in September and was undergoing treatment for age-related illness. The last rites of the actor’s father were performed at Nigam Bodh Ghat in New Delhi on Sunday afternoon.

Director and lyricist Avinash Das paid tribute to Manoj Bajpayee’s father on Twitter. He shared a picture of the actor and his father and wrote: “Manoj bhaiya’s father is no more. Missing moments with him. I took this picture at Bhitiharwa ashram. Very patient man. Son of an Aishwarya. kept us away from us. . Always kept himself away from the touch of son’s opulence. Was a big man in a modest weft. Greetings. Tribute).”

Manoj Bajpayee’s recently released projects are The Family Man Season 2, Re and Dial 100.

Manoj Bajpayee has won the National Film Award twice. He has worked in several critically acclaimed films such as Satya, Shool, Pinjar, Gangs of Wasseypur and Aligarh.
