Aakash Chopra, former opener for the Indian cricket team, believed that if a batter hits a six from more than 100 yards, he should get eight runs for that shot instead of six. However, current Rajasthan Royals leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal disagreed with him saying that if that is the case then a bowler should get a wicket if he throws three dot balls.

They had an interesting back and forth on Twitter, where former Indian cricket team all-rounder Suresh Raina also commented. Here’s Aakash Chopra’s first tweet:

“100+ meter six should get an 8.”

Shortly after, Chahal responded under his tweet:

“Three dot balls should be 1 wicket bhaiya.”

“Three wickets in a spell should allow the bowler to bowl an extra over. also imagine someone trying to hit you for a 100m six (because it’s an 8), big chance he’ll lose his form…risk reward,” Aakash Chopra replied to Chahal.

Yuzvendra Chahal will soon be in action against his former IPL team in IPL 2022

Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will play his first season for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. He kicked off his new season in style with a three-wicket-haul against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Chahal followed it up with a two-wicket-haul against the Mumbai Indians.

The leg spinner will now face off against his former franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. It will be interesting to see how Chahal performs against the likes of Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat at Wankhede Stadium on April 5.

While Chahal and Aakash Chopra’s suggestions look interesting when read, they don’t seem practical because then the distance calculator for every six has to be very accurate. Also, if a bowler bowls a girl, he will earn two wickets for it. These rules can take away from the charm of the game. So it is better if cricket is played according to cricket rules.
