The captain of Gujarat Titans Hardik Pandya believes that the Indian fans and the cricket fans of the world will hear the name Abhinav Sadarangani a lot in the coming years. Yesterday, Sadarangani played his first ever IPL game against Lucknow Supergiants and he walked in to bat in a very tricky situation when Gujarat Titans needed 20 runs from the last two overs.
Lucknow had the services of Dushmantha Chameera and Avesh Khan to bowl the final two overs and as they both move through the air quite quickly it was certainly not easy for a newcomer to get in on a difficult position of no. 7 and get the job done for the team.
Abhinav Sadarangani looked extremely confident in his debut match for Gujarat Titans
Abhinav Sadarangani, however, looked very confident from the start, taking the ground against Chameera just as the Sri Lankan pacer missed his height in a bid to go for a yorker.
The other batsman Rahul Tewatia, who played very well himself, also trusted Sadarangani a lot and didn’t go over for a quick single from the last ball of the 19th, while backing Sadarangani to find a boundary against Avesh Khan early in the 20th.
Sadarangani did exactly what Tewatia backed him to do, when he hit a boundary from the outside against Avesh early in the 20th and got the game done and dusted without much fuss. Once it was less than a run per ball, Gujarat would never let it slip from there.
Captain Hardik Pandya praised Sadarangani in the post-match presentation, as he insisted that this was not the only time Sadarangani’s name would be the talk of the town. That would be the case quite regularly for the next few years, but Hardik also praised the entire team for a winning start to their IPL campaign.
