England’s poor form in Test cricket continued as they lost to the West Indies by 10 wickets at the National Stadium. Thanks to this result, the home side won the ICC World Test Championship series against England 1-0.

The previous two games of the series between England and the West Indies ended in a draw. With the series on the line in the final game, fans expected a solid performance from both teams. England couldn’t make much of an impression as their batters didn’t get going.

Home captain Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss and decided to bowl first. Alex Lees scored 31 points for England at the top, but the team only had 114/9 left. A 90-run tenth wicket partnership between Saqib Mahmood and Jack Leach helped England put a total of over 200 runs on the board.

In response, the West Indies also suffered a collapse. They dropped to 95/6 as it looked like England would take the first innings lead. However, a fantastic century from Joshua da Silva saw the home side not only equal England’s total, but also take the crucial lead in the first innings.

The home team was all-out for 297 runs in the first innings. Joshua scored the highest score with 100 runs. Lees again scored 31 runs for England in the second innings, but Kyle Mayers’ magnificent five-wicket haul took the game away from the visitors. England lost all wickets for 120 runs, setting a 28-run goal.

Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell scored 28 runs in 5.1 overs to seal a comfortable 10-wicket victory for the home side. Joshua Da Silva won the Man of the Match award.

“I have dreamed of this all my life, the dream of winning a player of the match prize. I owe this to my teammates, they stayed with me and supported me, I have this prize thanks to them,” he said after winning the prize.

The English men are not very good at cricket at the moment.
But the English women are absolutely fantastic at it.
The English men are also not very good at rugby at the moment.
But the English women are brilliant at it.#TheseGirlsCan pic.twitter.com/pYfvE6NLRS

Well done, West Indies! They defended solidly for draws in the first two tests, then Mayered England in Grenada. Brathwaite herculean everywhere.
