Punjab Kings returned to the winning lane in IPL 2022 last night with an 11-run victory against the Chennai Super Kings. Shikhar Dhawan won the Man of the Match award for his fantastic 88 runs at the top. Dhawan led off the innings for PBKS and didn’t hold out until the end. While Dhawan stole the show in the first innings, it was Ambati Rayudu who impressed everyone in the second innings.

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. Dhawan’s brilliant fifty inspired the Punjab Kings to a total of 187 runs in the first innings. He got a lot of support from Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who amassed 42 runs from 32 deliveries. The two left-handed batters had an impressive 110-run partnership for the second wicket.

In response, the Chennai Super Kings lost three wickets in the first seven overs. It looked like CSK would struggle to chase the target, but Ambati Rayudu kept them alive in the game with a top quality inning. Rayudu scored 78 runs off just 39 balls with a stroke rate of 200.

He hit seven fours and six sixes in his 39-ball inning. After witnessing Rayudu’s aggressive knock, former PBKS batting coach Wasim Jaffer posted a photo on Twitter of Rishi Dhawan wearing a face shield, writing:

“Rayudu strikes even more aggressively tonight. Rishi Dhawan’s glasses may have reminded him of something.”

Former PBKS batting coach Wasim Jaffer felt that Rishi Dhawan’s face shield reminded Ambati Rayudu of 3D glasses

Though Jaffer didn’t mention what Rayudu was recalling, fans were smart enough to take the hint from him. The former PBKS batting coach joked that Rayudu may have remembered the 3D glasses after seeing the face shield on Dhawan’s face.

In April 2019, Rayudu tweeted that he had bought special 3D glasses to watch the World Cup when the selectors chose Vijay Shankar for his three-dimensional skills.
