Delhi Capitals had some trouble off the pitch for their match against the Punjab Kings in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Capitals were out of the services of Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert for a few days as both players tested positive for COVID-19. Even some members of the support staff contracted the virus. So there was a question of whether DC will play tonight’s game or not.
However, as other players’ COVID-19 tests were negative, the Delhi Capitals are now playing against the Punjab Kings. The Delhi-based franchise won the toss and decided to field first. The venue for this match was changed at the last minute as the match was moved from MCA Stadium to Brabourne Stadium.
Despite all the trouble, DC put on a solid show against PBKS, knocking them out for just 112 runs. It was a complete team effort from Delhi as Khaleel Ahmed, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Lalit Yadav took two wickets each.
None of the Punjab Kings batters were able to impress much, as they were thrown out for one of the lowest scores in IPL this year.
Nothing but respect for this special couple: DC co-owner Parth Jindal
Watching the way the Delhi Capitals performed against the Punjab Kings despite things happening off the field, DC co-owner Parth Jindal was proud of the way his team performed. This is what he wrote on Twitter:
“Imagine sitting in a room for 4 days and finding out that a teammate you ate with has Covid, imagine being told you still have to play the biggest tournament in the world and then imagine that you play, with the opponent at 92 for 8 this is DC Amazed, awestruck and nothing but respect for this special couple.”
Amazed, awestruck and have nothing but respect for this special couple – come on @DelhiCapitals let’s win this for everyone who loves this team. I salute you all
