KL Rahul was on top form when he played against five-time champions Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He became the first player to score two centuries against the same team in IPL 2022 last night, while leading the Lucknow Super Giants against the Mumbai-based franchise. Rahul lost the toss and was invited to bat first.

The Lucknow Super Giants started off slow. Most LSG batters struggled to get going, but KL Rahul accelerated after settling in the middle. Although his partners lost wickets at regular intervals, he held on to one side and stayed in the middle until the last ball. Rahul finished with 103 runs on the board.

His stroke rate was 166 in the 62-ball knockout where he hit 12 fours and four sixes. Thanks to his excellent innings, the Lucknow Super Giants put 168 runs on the board in their 20 overs. LSG won the match by 36 runs. Rahul was named Player of the Match and he also won five other awards during the post-match presentation.

When Harsha Bhogle asked him about the prizes he won along with the prize money for them, Rahul gave a cheeky reply saying:

“I will have to compensate for all the excessive fares and fines I receive after the game. I think I’ll get a share for the equity of this game.”

KL Rahul Reveals All He Wanted From Team Owners At The IPL 2022 Mega Auction

In the same interview, Rahul revealed that he and the team owners had a clear vision for the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The Lucknow Super Giants wanted to attract multi-utility players.

“We were very clear going into the auction – I’m really big on having all-rounders in the team. They add a lot of balance. We’re lucky to have some of the best on our team,” concluded Rahul.
