Former Indian cricketer Nikhil Chopra recently named the two wicketkeepers he would choose in his Indian playing XI for the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup. Chopra has now retired from all formats of cricket and works as a commentator for Star Sports. He is also part of the Hindi commentary panel for IPL 2022.

In a recent appearance on CricTracker’s Not Just Cricket Show, Nikhil Chopra singled out the two wicketkeepers the Indian cricket team should have on their squad for the upcoming 2022 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. Last year, the Indian cricket team took just three wins in five group stage matches in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE, leading to an early exit from the competition.

But this time, fans have high hopes for the Indian team, and according to Nikhil, the Men in Blue should keep the two wicketkeepers who played for the team in the previous edition of the ICC T20 World Cup – KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant.

“KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are definitely my first choice to play XI. If you think of any other options, in case of injuries, it depends on what position you want to take as wicketkeeper. There are multiple options, as you want a player is building the innings, or wanting a late bloom,” Nikhil said.

During the same show, Chopra further said that if there are no worries about injuries and everything is in order, then the Indian cricket team should only stick with the duo of KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant as they are proven match winners.

The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is still a few months away. The Indian cricket team will play many T20Is ahead of the big event.
